Breathtaking Bouquet - Ombre Background - Video Tutorial

I used the beautiful Background Stamp - Breathtaking Bouquet again for today's cards and Video. This time I created an Ombre Background.

For most of these cards, I chose three different ink pads all in the same colour.

The card on the right was the first card I created. I used Seaside Spray, Balmy Blue and Blueberry Bushel inks, blending each of them over about a third of the front panel. I then embossed using Silver powder.

The card on the left is the card I created in the Video. This time I used Balmy Blue, Blueberry Bushel and Night of Navy inks to get a little more contrast. I heat embossed with Gold Powder.

Both of these cards used the same combination of Blue inks that I used on my Video card. The one on the right is stamped using Versafine Onyx Black ink and heat embossed with Clear powder. The card on the left was stamped using Versamark ink and embossed with White powder.

I created the backgrounds first and then stamped on them. But you could do this the other way around if you prefer and would get the same results. You would just need to ensure that you buff off the embossing once complete to remove any residual ink that had collected on it.

If you blend first, then stamp you want to ensure that your panel is completely dry before stamping, otherwise, your embossing powder will stick where you don't want it to even if you use an Embossing Buddy - I had that problem with the very first card I created :o)

I create a few more cards using different colours.

The yellow card uses Crushed Curry, Daffodil Delight and So Saffron.

The purple card uses Gorgeous Grape, Highland Heather and Purple Posy (colour no longer available to purchase).

You could use any colours that you have to try out this technique, you just need three different tones of it.

This was actually the card that started my little creative burst. I wanted to create a rainbow background - which didn't quite work - but I do love the results I got.

The colours I used here are Calypso Coral, Pool Party, Soft Sea Foam and So Saffron - but I still had some of the Coral ink on my brush when I applied the So Saffron. I heat embossed using Silver powder.

I used several die sets to create the sentiment panel - firstly die cutting the actual sentiment with one of the Stitched Shapes Oval dies. The Scalloped Oval mat was created using one of the Layering Oval dies and I used one of the Stitched Label dies for the larger Black mat.

Here is the Video ...
